Learning to Sign

We've been signing with Rosy since she was about 6 months old.  We started with a few at first, just so she could communicate and know what we were talking about.  She doesn't sign all that much when she sees or wants something yet, but when we do sign with her, she immediately knows what we're talking about.  She does sign "all done" when she's finished eating or wants us to stop kissing and hugging her (apparently too many kisses can be annoying!) but her favorite sign, by far, is "milk".

Last week I added several more to the mix.  We're learning:
  • peach
  • eggs
  • potato
  • yogurt
  • water
  • apple
  • orange
  • cheese
  • chicken
  • fish
  • peanut butter
  • yes
  • no
  • please
  • thank you
  • more
  • cat
  • dog
  • bird
  • bug
  • squirrel
  • tree
  • hat
  • cook
  • bath
  • bed

This morning Rosy and I were in the living room and she was playing with a chirping toy chick from the Easter Bunny.  We have two big double paneled glass doors in our living room/dining room with a view of trees that frequently have birds in them and when the toy started chirping, I said and signed "bird" and she immediately looked to the trees outside for a bird!  She's learning so much!
